NRW is seeking to award a framework for the maintenance, repair, improvement or betterments to existing structures, on land near or in marine or river environments, as identified by NRW. Maintenance of these assets is essential in ensuring NRW fulfils its statutory objectives to protect the public, enhance the natural environment, whilst complying with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

Work will consist of soft engineering services for NRW related assets; this may be a structural, land or water requirement but predominately it will be on existing flood defence structures. The Contractors will be required to assess, plan and deliver minor soft engineering works/ maintenance services as described in the scope of works by the Project Manager. Works may include flood defence repair, bank revetment repair, bank stabilisation, river restoration services, weir improvements, penstock, fish pass and trash screen related services and culvert maintenance.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
NRW is seeking to award a framework for the River Channel Maintenance to be carried out within Main River Watercourses throughout Wales. Works will include, In-channel vegetation clearance and recurring maintenance work that relates to landscaping and in-river obstruction management. Activities include such work as grass/weed cutting clearance within the watercourse either by mechanical or manual means, invasive species control, de-silting of the channel and blockage removal either carried out routinely or reactive.
