Abstract

Cardiff University as seeking a supplier to support their telephony migration project from Skype for Business Server 2015 to Teams Phone. Skype for Business was deployed at Cardiff University in 2015 as part of a major telephony programme which brought changes to complementary services including fax and contact centre. The move to Teams Phone is seen as a natural progression from Skype for Business server and will build on existing Teams usage within the university. The project is expected to provide coordinated and controlled migration from Skype for Business to Teams Phone over a period of approximately 18 months. This is expected to allow time to design and establishing the new service, and to pace migration activity around the university calendar to minimise disruption. The supplier is expected to support all aspects of migration including design, delivery, project management, and business change to raise awareness and guide usage. Successful completion of works will result in full decommissioning of Skype for Business. To limit change, it is desired that supported products be sustained where there is recognised benefit. For example, Netcall Liberty shall remain throughout this work to minimise business change to high impact areas of the university. As Teams Phone will become the operational platform for telephony, the supplier will be expected to provide support and assistance in ensuring smooth and stable service.
