Description of the goods or services required
Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is seeking an external resource for the provision of various clinical coding training courses and workshops, led by qualified trainers, for clinical coders working throughout NHS Wales. These courses and workshops are required to meet NHS Digital Clinical Classifications Service (CCS) standards. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it has been confirmed these training courses are to continue being delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams i.e. distance learning methods.
Interested parties should note the following requirements:
• Proposed trainers are qualified to provide clinical coding courses to
NHS Digital Clinical Classifications Service (CCS) standards
• Proposed trainers are approved to deliver courses through distance
learning methods
• Proposed courses need to be delivered between 26th August 2021 – 25th
August 2022
Courses required are as below:
• Clinical Coding Standards Course
• Clinical Coding Refresher Course
• Clinical Coding Revision Course
• Clinical Coding Specialty Workshop*
* Provision of this training course is subject to the demonstration of the development of an appropriate CCS-approved (or equivalent) specialty workshop curriculum.
The Core Requirements for this Procurement are:-
• Clinical Coding Standards Course - 12
• Clinical Coding Refresher Course – 84
The Optional Requirements are:
• Clinical Coding Standards Course - 0-10
• Clinical Coding Refresher Course - 0-20
• Clinical Coding Revision Course - 0-10
• Clinical Coding Specialty Workshop - 0-10
Minimum standards and qualification required:
• All training delivered must be current to NHS Digital Clinical
Classifications Service (CCS) standards, where applicable.
• An NHS Digital Clinical Classifications Service (CCS) approved trainer
must deliver all training delivered, where applicable.
• Provision of the speciality training course listed under the optional
requirements are subject to the demonstration of the development of an
appropriate CCS-approved (or equivalent) specialty workshop
curriculum.

2. Suitably qualified and experienced providers are invited to participate in the contract opportunity and submit proposals for meeting the Authority’s requirement. The pre-qualification documentation is now available on the Bravo tendering portal. The closing date and time for returning completed pre-qualification is 16th August 2021.
