Abstract
The University of South Wales is seeking an experienced consultancy to undertake a survey, sampling and a risk mitigation report on the campus buildings that have a cladding system on its external envelope.
For the purposes of this commission the identified sites are a-f (inclusive). The sites are represented through a diversity of building styles, ages and purpose from Georgian to 1970’s CLASP (Consortium of Local Authorities Special Programme) to post 2000’s with the specific buildings from each site identified in Appendices 5 with photographic images on Appendices 6.
The usages of buildings include teaching, offices, student accommodation, recreational and refectory. Previous improvements to the sites have seen buildings receive an over-cladding finish and where new construction has taken place cladding has also been utilised.
USW recognises its responsibilities for ensuring compliance of building materials and the USW Estates Department require an experienced professional consultancy to provide a report on the type of cladding present on the identified buildings, the risk they pose (if any) and reasonable measures to mitigate the risk.
