Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) has a statutory duty to comply with the standards of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. The standards BCBC must comply with can be categorised into 10 themes, these themes include the following –

• Customer Contact

• Public meetings, events, and training

• Public documents

• Online presence and ICT system

• Publicity and advertising

• Signage and displays

• Policy development and grant applications

• Compliance documents and complaints

• Consultation and research

• Human resources and employee issues.

To meet the standards set for several of the above themes, we will require 6 companies (to be used on a rotational basis, in ranked order) to translate the documents from English into Welsh.
