Launched in 2011 Wrexham Lager is the oldest new lager brewery  in the UK . With the assistance of former Wrexham MP Martin Jones Mark Roberts and his fellow family directors acquired the brewing rights to the original recipe used by the German founders of Wrexham Lager in 1882.
To ensure the provenance of the lager was fully protected the company engaged Ian Dale the former head of brewing at the Carlsberg plant to manage the process and advise on the installation of the best quality brewing equipment to produce the highest quality lager. After extensive research the contract for the new brewing facility was awarded to Kaspar Schulz of Bamberg in Germany. The Roberts family hired John Bowler a renowned brewery engineer to set the specification required by Ian to brew Wrexham Lager once again.
Initial demand for Wrexham Lager has grown rapidly that within a period of less than 4 years the production has reached its design capacity of 35Klitres/week. 
Wrexham Lager is very much a quintessential family business managed by Mark and his fellow directors and siblings Janet Gaffey, Vaughn and John Roberts.  All four have extensive experience of the food and drink industry and of managing and successfully growing both new start-up and established businesses. 
Reflecting the passion and local family ties of the directors the new ethos for Wrexham Lager has been built firmly on the proud traditions of the original brand but utilising the best and most advanced technology to ensure the product is of the highest standard and consistency.  The directors have been careful to ensure the marketing and promotion of the brand reflect this emphasis on quality and heritage. This has extended to the range of related merchandising which the company have successfully developed over the last 6 years.
Without doubt it has been the enthusiasm and commitment of the Directors that has been instrumental in how and where growth in sales has occurred since the re-launch with  over 300 outlets now secured and supplied on a regular basis.
